The events of January 6, 2021, added to the mounting political polarization in American politics and society. In this episode, we explored Americans’ increasing lack of trust in the justice system, news media, government, and institutions. We found that our identity and reality are shaped by the groups we identify with, reflecting a kind of social tribalism that makes trusting each other difficult.
